Roberto Fabbriciani, flautist and composer, was born in Arezzo. It is internationally recognized as one of the best performers. Roberto Fabbriciani has innovated the flute technique by multiplying with the personal research the sound possibilities of the instrument. He has collaborated with the major composers of our time: Luciano Berio, Pierre Boulez, Sylvano Bussotti, John Cage, Elliot Carter, Aldo Clementi, Luis De Pablo, Franco Donatoni, Brian Ferneyhough, Jean Françaix, Giorgio Gaslini, Adriano Guarnieri, Toshio Hosokawa, Ernest Krenek, György Kurtág, György Ligeti, Luca Lombardi, Bruno Maderna, Giacomo Manzoni, Olivier Messiaen, Ennio Morricone, Luigi Nono, Goffredo Petrassi, Henri Pousseur, Wolfgang Rihm, Jean-Claude Risset, Nino Rota, Nicola Sani, Giacinto Scelsi, Salvatore Sciarrino, Mauricio Sotelo, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Toru Takemitsu, Isang Yun, all of whom have dedicated numerous important works performed by him in absolute premiere. With Luigi Nono, he worked extensively at the SWF experimental studio in Freiburg, opening up and following new and unusual paths for music. He has played as soloist with conductors Claudio Abbado, Luciano Berio, Ernest Bour, Riccardo Chailly, Sergiu Comissiona, Peter Eötvös, Vladimir Fedoseyev, Gianandrea Gavazzeni, Michael Gielen, Cristóbal Halffter, Djansug Kachidse, Vladimir Jurowsky, Peter Maag, Bruno Maderna, Diego Masson, Riccardo Muti, Zoltán Peskó, Josep Pons, Giuseppe Sinopoli, Lothar Zagrosek and with orchestras such as the Orchestra of the Scala in Milan, the Orchestra of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia, the Orchestras of the Rai, Orquesta Nacional de España, London Sinfonietta, LSO, RTL Luxembourg, BRTN Brussel, Orchester Symphonique de la Monnaie, WDR in Cologne, SWF Baden-Baden, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Bayerischer Rundfunks, Münchener and Berliner Philharmoniker. He has performed concerts at prestigious theaters and musical institutions: Scala of Milan, Berlin Philharmonic, Royal Festival Hall of London, Suntory Hall of Tokyo, Sala Cajkowskij of Moscow, Carnegie Hall of New York and Teatro Colón of Buenos Aires and he has participated several times at festivals such as the Venice Biennale, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Ravenna, London, Edinburgh, Paris, Brussels, Granada, Luzern, Warsaw, Salzburg, Wien, Lockenhaus, Donaueschingen, Köln, München, Berlin, St. Petersburg, Tokyo, Cervantino, Wellington . He has recorded numerous records, many of which have received critical acclaim and has been a flute teacher at the “L. Cherubini ”of Florence and of the advanced training course at the Mozarteum University of Salzburg. He is the author of musical works and didactic texts adopted in the paths of international musical teaching, published by Ricordi and Suvini Zerboni. Among his recent compositions: Glacier in Extinction; Alchemies; Cantus; Sounds for Gigi; When the sun rises; Zeus joueur de flûtes; Figaro il Barbiere (freely from Rossini); Great, great love; Flood; Conversation on Tiresia (by Andrea Camilleri).
